District Judge Thomas has brought Judicial Review proceedings against the Judicial Appointments Commission in respect of its decision not to recommend her for appointment as a Circuit Judge, in circumstances where undisclosed negative information had been obtained from unknown sources as part of the statutory consultation process.
Given its importance, the Judicial Review is being heard at first instance by the Court of Appeal on 2 and 3 July 2025.
The case raises important questions as to the fairness of the procedure for making judicial appointments in England and Wales.
Ben Collins KC and Nicola Newbegin, instructed by RRM Law, represent the Claimant, District Judge Thomas.
