We are delighted to announce that Robert Moretto and Nicola Newbegin are to be appointed King’s Counsel following the 2025 competition.
Robert, called to the Bar in 2000, is an expert in employment, discrimination, public law and human rights. He has been involved in numerous high-profile and ground-breaking cases, in particular in cases of discrimination under the Equality Act 2010 and the European Convention on Human Rights.
Nicola was called to the Bar in 2008. She specialises in employment, discrimination, professional discipline/regulation, administrative law/judicial review, human rights and data protection/privacy. Nicola appears regularly in the Employment Tribunals, the Employment Appeal Tribunal, the High Court and the Court of Appeal, as well as before the major professional regulators.
These new appointments will bring the number of silks at Old Square Chambers to 21.
They will officially be sworn in at a ceremony before the Lord Chancellor at Westminster Hall on the 23rd March 2026.
