Old Square Chambers is delighted to announce the appointment of Nadia Motraghi (called 2004) as a member of the Advisory Committee on Conscientious Objectors (ACCO).
The ACCO is an advisory non-departmental public body, sponsored by the Ministry of Defence.
The ACCO hears appeals from armed forces personnel on all conscientious objection claims and advises the Secretary of State for Defence. These claims are made by those in the armed forces whose application for permission to retire, resign or be discharged have been refused by the service authorities.
This appointment complements Nadia’s work in public law. Hearings are held on an ad-hoc basis when such appeals arise and Nadia remains a full time member of Chambers.
