Old Square Chambers brings to you our Autumn Personal Injury Seminar Programme, 2014
Old Square Chambers, 10-11 Bedford Row, London WC1R 4BU
Christopher Makey, Christopher Edwards and Lance Harris will present a mock liability trial. With the end of recoverability of CFA uplifts and the introduction of qualified one-way costs shifting, there is an increasing appetite by Defendant insurers to fight medium and lower value cases to trial which they would until recently have settled. The evening will provide a realistic short form trial with question and answer session afterwards, with a view to showing how both sides can best prepare a case for trial and maximise their chances of success. It is aimed at junior fee earners with little or no trial experience, more senior fee earners who may have limited recent experience of contested liability claims, and anyone who wishes to refresh their trial knowledge or who wishes to take the opportunity to ask questions of both parties’ advocates and the judge.
