Old Square Chambers is delighted to announce that Anya Palmer has been named in The Lawyer’s Hot 100 2023.
The last few years have been particularly busy for Anya, who acted for Maya Forstater in her landmark belief discrimination case against think tank CGD Europe, together with Ben Cooper KC. Forstater won her appeal in 2021, when the EAT held that her belief that sex is real and it matters is a protected philosophical belief for the purpose of the Equality Act 2010. paving the way for others when it was ruled that she had been discriminated against for her protected philosophical beliefs. In 2022, the full merits hearing of the case took place in March, and Forstater won in July.
Anya also acted for NHS whistleblower Sonia Appleby in her successful claim against the Tavistock in 2021.
Last year, Anya also undertook much advisory work, such as helping employers review their policies so they don’t discriminate on gender reassignment or on philosophical belief.
