In advance of Holocaust Memorial Day (27 January), Old Square has arranged for Gloria Silver to give a presentation in Chambers about her father, Tony Chuwen. Tony was one of the few who escaped from the Nazi camp system and survived the war. His story is one of risk taking and resourcefulness, coupled with good luck amidst the danger and tragedy. Following his escape in 1942, aged 17, he lived by his wits, including a period hiding inside the German Army system. Following two further dramatic escapes, he reached Scotland late in 1944. By then, almost his entire large family, including his parents, had been murdered by the Nazis and their helpers.
The presentation will last for about 40 minutes from 5.30pm. There will be questions and answers after this and then a small reception.
